DIY Crib Baby Gate
In our household, we try to re-purpose and reuse things whenever possible. It not only saves money, but keeps things from going into the landfill. A couple of months ago when I was at my friend's house, I noticed she had used part of her son's crib to make a baby gate. I asked her about it, because it's a genius idea to keep little ones out of unsafe areas! We decided to do it at home since it looked like a pretty simple project, plus it gave our 4 year old's old crib a purpose! This is a great way to re-use those cribs that are no longer deemed safe for a baby to sleep in.
What you'll need:
- Crib
- Hinges
- An eyehook (to latch the gate)
- Screws (2" or longer)
- A drill
- Saw (maybe, if you need to adjust the size of the crib)
- Some one handy (in this case, that's my husband!)
Joe explained that he basically had to make sure the side of the crib would fit the doorway we were blocking. He simply installed the hinges on the wall and the crib. Using long screws are better since they will stay in the wall better. In our case, he decided to remove the crib legs and use them to make the gate fit perfectly.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea. We have a doorway we need to block but I am not fond of the look of baby gates. I do have an old baby bed though!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and are probably way more sturdy than an actual baby gate. I will have to share this idea with my daughter for her dog she is always trying to find ways to keep him off the areas with carpet.
